Extraordinary vintages combine with excellent restaurants and accommodations in these bucolic establishments.

Château d’Esclans

La Motte en Provence, France

Visitors to Château d’Esclans—the Provence estate that produces Whispering Angel, the world’s most popular rosé—can view the namesake cherubs that inspired the wine’s label. They rest above an altar in a chapel adjacent to the 19th-century Tuscan-style château, which is built upon a foundation dating from 1201. The estate welcomes guests daily for tours, followed by tastings of Whispering Angel, Les Clans and Garrus (called the “greatest rosé ever” by critic James Suckling). “We like to tell visitors who have toured the château and tasted our wine that they’ve come full circle,” says Château d’Esclans’ Thomas Schreckinger.
